I was told that I should blog again. So here I am.
The anti-parasite program is going well - I think. We're still taking our pills despite several bouts of nausea from the quantity of potency of the pills. Who knows anymore.
The 'fast' went great as well. Actually, I am amazed at how easy it was and plan on doing another one (minus the colonics) in about 3 or 4 months from now. I think the colonics are a great way to enhance the fast, but it's much cheaper if I just buy the herbs and protein drink and maybe get one colonic during that time. Since I finished it last Saturday I have been feeling much better. I still look like I am pregnant after I eat, but no more lower backaches, water retention, fatigue, or foggy thinking. What a blessing!!!
Yesterday we started taking this and today all my symptoms (the ones just mentioned in the previous paragraph) are back. In addition, I feel like I haven't eaten in days and I am craving sweets and doughy stuff. I am taking it as a good sign. When candida starts dying you tend to experience die off symptoms, also referred to as Herxheimer reaction. Some people feel like they have a bad cold or flu while others experience their normal symptoms more intensely for a few days.
I am SO looking forward to having a normal life again with energy, the ability to focus, being able to enjoy more variety of food, and just feeling healthy.
On a totally different subject, I may have an opportunity for a new job. I started talking to the hiring manager, Audrey, of the position back in June 2003 - not that's not a typo. It's another insurance agency and they were looking for a Senior Programmer/Analyst. The job is very similar to my current job (ok, before I stopped having stuff to do!) except that I would be working on a Progress database rather than an Oracle database. Last year around November I went in for a technical interview and then got called back for a second round interview in December. I didn't hear from Audrey for a while and thought they had found someone else when I got an email. Apparently they had some budget meetings and the whole thing was delayed.
Two days ago I went back to meet with Audrey and two of the other programmers again but this time it was for my benefit. They want all their prospective new employees to get an idea of what a day at that job would look like. I thought that was cool and none of the other companies I worked for have done that. They all seem to have a great working relationship and although they work hard, they also look like they are having fun. It's actually in their mission statement. Every quarter the whole company closes and every body does community work. When they're done the company has a big BBQ for all teh employees. And once you're hired you start accruing vacation at a rate of THREE weeks per year. Much better than the standard of two weeks per year. In addition, you can take your sick leave as vacation time if you choose to. Very cool!
My only concerns are moving to Progress, a not so well known database, and the salary. While money is not the main thing I am looking for in a job, when we first spoke in June the salary was MUCH less than my current salary. I am not sure if this has changed. Anyway, they will be making a decision by the end of the week. Ideally they want someone in that position by April 1st, but I told Audrey that I like to give 2 weeks notice just to be fair to my current employer. I also told her that Bob and I are going on vacation for one week middle of April. It might be a deciding factor in who to hire, but I wanted to be honest with her and not wait and see if I get an offer, then tell her I would be leaving one week. However, they were also discussing a second position which would be effective May 1st, so there is still a chance that was approved.
I am car-less today and Bob is on his way to pick me up. It's a good thing, too, because I feel like I could eat a cow.
I really should blog more.
